Last week, Ukraine’s parliament almost unanimously passed a law legalizing cryptocurrencies. Already at the beginning of last month there were reports following a new bill that would allow payments in Bitcoin & Co. This bill was adopted on Wednesday. While the law states that cryptocurrencies are not legal tender, it does suggest that the country is getting more involved with Bitcoin.

Until now, trading in bitcoin was not illegal even before the legislation. Virtual currencies were allowed to be bought and exchanged by locals. However, companies and stock exchanges were often under the strict scrutiny of law enforcement agencies. It is planned to open up the cryptocurrency market to companies and investors by 2022.
