Modern mobility is undergoing a change. A look at the current developments in times of climate debate makes it clear what a key role e-mobility plays. New and, above all, efficient solutions for urban traffic are developing. E-scooters, which can already be seen in many cities today, are seen as big winners. The blockchain industry is not immune to this trend. Some block chain-based business models for e-scooters have already been developed by various companies. Deutsche Telekom has already tested the use of the block chain in urban mobility. The research branch Deutsche Telekom Innovation Laboratories (T-Labs) specially developed the block-chain-based solution Xride. The new ecosystem of e-scooters has already been put to the test in a four-week test phase. Telekom made it clear that the new platform could not only be used for e-scooters. The technology behind Xride can optimize communication between different devices. The focus is on central functions such as identity management or transaction processing. In particular, user validation and easy payment of the scooters used can be implemented using block chain technology.
