Blockchain technologies have great potential for abuse – so they should be given their own branch in researching ethical issues in their use.
Technologies with a high potential for misuse are often accompanied by experts after some time, who deal with the undesired consequences. Now it is to be explored what can go wrong with the blockchain technology.

Already in October 2019 a group of economists, financial engineers, judiciary and other scientists tried to create the basis for interdisciplinary blockchain research including ethical questions.

If one assumes that the block chain technology will become more and more important, then it deserves its own department of ethics. As Lindmark said, the same applies to block-chain ethics as to other areas of “technology ethics”: you have to look at what the technology is capable of and think through the possible consequences.

Blockchains make it possible to create “leaderless” decentralized organizations.
