A test run for a digital school report will start this summer in Berlin, North Rhine-Westphalia and Rhineland-Palatinate. The digital form is intended to replace the time-consuming paper route and will be offered to schools on a voluntary basis until 2022. So far, the federal states have shown great interest and have given positive feedback. Above all, the digital certificate is more forgery-proof and complies with data protection regulations. In addition, it makes the application process easier for high school students, as most applications go online and the certificates do not have to be certified by the office. An XML file is to be embedded in the certificate PDF, which checks the authenticity of the certificate and simplifies the process.
