An Australian beer company switched to solar energy last year and was able to produce with 100% renewable energy. As a thank you for its customers, who also rely on solar energy, the brewery came up with something very special. With the help of a program based on the blockchain, participating customers can exchange excess solar energy for free beer. To do this, the Australian brewery joined forces with a blockchain company. The program enables participants to keep track of exactly how much beer they have made from their solar energy. Not only do the two companies and customers benefit from it – those who rely on solar energy also help the environment. The US company Civic has already combined blockchain technology with beer by developing a beer vending machine that accepts Bitcoin as a means of payment and can directly determine the age of the buyer via the blockchain.
