A new fraudulent crypto trick has targeted the citizens of the Canadian city of Winnipeg. A local shopkeeper has reported
that some of his clients have already been victims of the fraudulent scheme. The new scam is similar to the famous grandson trick. Elderly citizens are persuaded here by telephone call to make payments in Bitcoin (BTC). Many people are currently receiving phone calls asking them to exchange their money for Bitcoin and then send it to the Canadian tax office or Manitoba’s water company for supposed payments.

Husni Zeid emphasizes here that he observes this scam several times a week and keeps receiving complaints from those affected. The fraudsters’ actions are reminiscent of the well-known grandchild trick, in which mostly old people are put under pressure on the phone and urged to make immediate payments of large sums of money.
It is to be expected that the new crypto scam could be copied by fraudsters all over the world.
