In the crypto scene, various sources indicate that the payment service PayPal is working on a complete integration of Bitcoin into its users’ wallets. There are various indications of this. PayPal has a very large customer base with about 325 million active users. In a report by the crypto magazine Coindesk, the service is now planning to offer its customers the purchase and sale of Bitcoin directly via Paypal. The crypto magazine claims to have received this information from two unnamed sources, which Coindesk calls insiders. “My understanding is that direct purchases of crypto currencies are offered via PayPal and the mobile payment service Venmo,” explains one of the sources. The second source even believes to know that Paypal wants to bring the Bitcoin integration within the next three months, maybe even faster.
The choice of trading platforms is wide: Coinbase and the Luxembourg crypto exchange Bitstamp are under discussion. Paypal and Coinbase have been working together since 2018. US Coinbase users have been able to buy their Bitcoins with PayPal since 2018, Europeans can do so since 2019.
