Many people are familiar with the common photovoltaic systems on the roofs of houses and buildings, but recently this technology can also be found on the water. Recently, for example, in NRW.
Everyone knows that electricity can be generated from the sun’s energy. However, this approach did not only have advantages. Along with wind energy, solar energy is one of the pillars of the energy turnaround. In the Netherlands, the use of lakes as locations for solar plants has been established for some time. Not only does the surface of the water offer enough space for the bulky installations, the reflection of the sun’s rays also increases efficiency.
In NRW, the 2000 solar modules consist of approx. 90 pontoons and generate approximately 750 kilowatts. With this step, NRW is primarily avoiding disputes about the use of a surface area, as a water surface does not offer a great deal of opportunity for use. Moreover, the water is usually unhindered by solar radiation and functions as a cooling system for the modules.
An innovative idea, we think. Would you like to stay up to date and take a closer look at Pluspunkt Energie? Then take a look at our other articles. Together for a better future. Sustainably.
