Solana is experiencing another network failure. It’s already the seventh in just a few months. The Solana network went down for seven hours last Saturday – again. It is the seventh crash in a few months. By comparison, Bitcoin and Ethereum never crash in their entire history.

On Saturday, April 30, an army of bots flooded the network with a data tsunami. This happened during an NFT mined event called Candy Machine. During such an event, NFTs are created and offered live for auction. The network crashed due to the load and was restarted Sunday. The price dropped by several percent. The current crash is symptomatic of a deeper design problem at Solana.
