The ERC20 token is based on Ethereum and was created by anonymous founders as a joke. Similar to Dogecoin and Shiba Inu, PEPE has no practical use and is only for entertainment. Nevertheless, in just two weeks, the coin has reached a market capitalization of almost $900 million and has placed in the top 50 cryptocurrencies. This is another example of the current Memecoin craze, which has spawned a multitude of copycats trying to profit from the success of these fun cryptocurrencies.
