The cloud service Hetzner GmbH speaks out against all activities around cryptocurrencies and blockchain in its T&Cs. This could become a problem for Ethereum in the future, as it was revealed shortly before the Ethereum Merge that the web hosting service provider hosts around 16 percent of all nodes in the Ethereum network. A previously insurmountable hurdle for Ethereum, as the cloud service repeatedly stresses that no crypto activity is tolerated through their service.

The current buzz around the company and its statement arose from a Reddit post in which a user of the platform planned to set up a node via the cloud service and made a request to the company for this purpose. Prohibited crypto activities include proof-of-stake and proof-of-work activities for the production of cryptocurrencies.
