Over 400 hackers, professionals and experts got involved last weekend to put a tangible face on blockchain technology. Connecting blockchain protocols such as Algorand, Near, Streamr and Velas with companies and hackers from 31 nations led to exactly this result. Companies provided tasks for which hackers in 69 teams developed solutions under pressure and in the shortest possible time and provided answers to real problems and challenges via functioning prototypes.

The challenges in the form of concrete challenges and briefings came from the business world, for example from Bossard, the City of Lugano, Dexgame, Julius Bär, NZZ, Richemont, the Canton of Ticino, the Swiss Federal Office of Energy, Swiss Post, Casper, Seba Bank, Nomoko, ZHAW & FairRecycling and Lumas-Galerie.

This link to the economy and to companies with concrete requirements ensures that a hackathon is not limited to theoretical finger exercises, but produces practical applications as a result: Applications that can be further developed after the hackathon and solve concrete problems in the final expansion.
