The so-called Climate Chain Coalition (CCC) is a global environmental initiative made up of 250 member organisations. Its goal is to use blockchain, distributed ledger technology and other promising digital technology solutions to promote a climate-smart economy.

The event was moderated by Miroslav Polzer, strategic director of the CCC. Experts such as Denby McDonnell, Cointelegraph editor Kristina Cornér, Tia Kansara and many more spoke about the importance of CO2 NFTs and corporate responsibility.

Blockchain For Climate Foundation programme manager Denby McDonnell talked about her organisation wanting to bring the Paris Climate Agreement to the blockchain. In particular, she mentioned Art. 6.2 and the recently opened crypto-CO2 platform BITMO. She said the platform enables the issuance and exchange of internationally transferred mitigation credits as ERC-115 NFTs on the Ethereum blockchain.

Due to the increasing acceptance of CO2 credits among tech companies to accurately track their CO2 emissions, experts have called for even more support for CO2 negativity instead of so-called “greenwashing”.
