Research by Deutsche Bank concludes that cash will not disappear from the scene so quickly. And that, although it is used less and less as a means of payment and digital currencies continue to rise. Germany’s largest financial institution has published three new studies entitled “The Future of Payments” that examine the present and future of cash and alternative payment methods. They were quite creative in their names, so the first part of the study is called “Bargeld: The dinosaur is not yet dying out”, the second part is called “The move to digital wallets and the extinction of plastic cards” and the final, third part is called “Digital Currencies: The Ultimate Power Tool”. According to the study, cash use in Germany will intensify over the next six months, but other countries will decide on the future of cash. China and India, as the most populous countries, play an important role, as they also strongly support digital currencies and block chaining. China is well on the way to becoming a pioneer in this area with the planned development of the central bank digital currency.
