British mining company Argo Blockchain wants to build an 800-megawatt data centre in West Texas that is estimated to cost between US$1.5 billion and US$2 billion. A filing by Argo indicates that the actual cost may vary significantly in the future, as it is only a cost estimate.

Argo had already broken ground for the new mining plant in Dickens County in July. Even then, it was said that the new centre would have a capacity of up to 800 MW. Although construction is still in progress, the property is already costing the mining company 17.5 million US dollars. The plant is expected to be completed by mid-2022. In August, the company announced that parts of its own business operations are already sustainable. In the long term, Argo wants to achieve completely climate-neutral mining.
