Recently, fashion giants Adidas and Prada launched their joint re-nylon collection, consisting of ready-to-wear apparel and accessories, among others. The partners now brought this collection to the Metaverse as well by means of a Non-fungible Token (NFT).

NFTs are about digital art objects whose ownership rights are secured on the Ethereum blockchain. A unique signature is used to make digital creations distinctive and unique in the process. Specifically, the NFT collaboration called “Adidas for Prada Re-source” created a large-scale digital artwork inspired by the real, i.e. physical, Re-Nylon collection. For this purpose, 3,000 anonymized photographs were collected from the community, coined as NFT and processed by digital artist Zach Liebermann with a digital filter and then connected in the form of tiles to create a single large digital NFT patchwork. Those interested in fashion, design and crypto were able to upload their photo contribution to the official website as an NFT for free, retaining ownership of their own tiles. The selection of these 3,000 images was done randomly.

Holders of the first adidas NFT, “Into the Metaverse,” which was created in collaboration with PUNKS Comic, Bored Ape Yacht Club as well as Gmoney and launched in December 2021, were rewarded in that 1,000 spots were reserved for them. In addition, it was announced that the finished complete work will be exhibited as a digital art installation in the flagship stores of adidas and Prada.
