It’s no secret that Elon Musk is a Bitcoin fan and a driving force behind its boom. It is also no secret that mining, i.e. the process of converting energy into the computing power required for the cryptosystem, is not exactly environmentally friendly. Nevertheless, the Tesla boss stands behind Bitcoin, because he is firmly convinced that renewable energies will soon replace the currently harmful mining processes. Anthony Scaramucci also denied the criticism against Musk on the grounds that “no living person has done more to protect the planet against climate change”. The idea that Elon Musk would support something that is so harmful to the environment would be utterly absurd. One can only hope that the mining process will actually develop further and that it will be able to work in a more energy-efficient manner in the future.
