Both parks and green spaces have been used more intensively since the restrictions were imposed and are also more intensively polluted. To-go coffee cups, to-go pasta cups, wine and brandy bottles and, above all, pizza boxes. Public dustbins are hopelessly overfilled and are still emptied in the regular cycles. The cities are shocked. Originally it was assumed that the use of packaging waste would decrease due to the lockdown – but far from it. The increasingly popular phenomenon of taking food with you continues to grow. The disposal of bulky pizza boxes is particularly problematic, as they are rarely folded and the bins fill up more quickly. Consequently, the remaining rubbish unfortunately ends up next to the dustbins. Various cities would like to act now to get the flood of waste disposal under control. They are now thinking about special waste disposal displays or whether a nationwide deposit system would make sense. The latter, however, still faces obstacles which should be avoided.
