The Swiss canton of Zug – the stronghold of the burgeoning crypto and block chain industry – allows tax bills of up to USD 109,670 to be paid in Bitcoin or Ethereum from February 2021.
Zug is convinced that its initiative will help to “normalise” the use of crypto currencies. Trials will be carried out in the coming weeks to ensure that next year’s introduction can take place without problems.
Zug began testing the acceptance of the BTC as a means of payment for government services as early as July 2016. To celebrate the success of this process, the city council decided to extend it indefinitely at the end of 2016. However, the city council has also announced that this method of payment was only used by 12 people this year.
Do you think this movement, could more cities join soon?
