The biodiversity of the planet is in danger. What has long been considered a scientific consensus has now made it onto the agenda of the World Economic Forum (WEF). The Earth is threatened with a loss of biological diversity at an unprecedented rate, according to a concept paper by the foundation, which is based in the Swiss canton of Geneva. Up to one million animals and plants are threatened with extinction. The consequences are fatal. The WEF sees more than half of the global gross domestic product endangered by climate change and our way of life and work. Therefore there can be no “business as usual”. One could reach a tipping point that would endanger the loss of about 44 trillion dollars in global economic output.
But there is hope in sight. The Future Of Nature And Business shows solutions that can reverse the trend by 2030. The Blockchain represents one of the core solutions for saving the world, alongside measures such as CO₂ neutrality, sustainable food production, sustainable urban development and better supply chains.
