The Austrian tech companies Riddle & Code have developed a block chain solution for the administration and forwarding of metal certificates.
The authentication service for certificates, which was jointly developed by the partners, is intended to provide metal products with a digital, forgery-proof identity and make every step along the supply chain traceable. The exchange of certificates and the quality inspection of metal products can thus also be processed paperlessly in the future. According to Riddle & Code and S1Seven, up to 100 million printed documents are currently generated annually for the exchange of certificates by 500 European steel production sites and 500,000 metal processors. These could be replaced to a large extent by a block chain certification system. The risk of fraud and forgery is reduced by the immutability of data stored on the block chain.
